I have an issue with the EVC on my boat where by it is gone in to alarm and won’t start the engine.

I had a an issue where I crossed polarity on the house battery when I changed the batteries and started the engine. This blew the isolator switch and also the alternator.

I replaced the isolator switch with a new one and managed to get a brand new Volvo Penta alternator that is like for like from a local auto electrician that had one on his shelf and changed that out also.

When I restarted the engine there was still an alarm but would stop when I pressed the “D” button on the EVC control panel.

When the engine was on idle the voltage on the dash was reading close to 15V and when it went under load this wend down to around 14.2V.

I then proceeded to drive the boat but when I took it up to full revs it shut down after a short time and went back in to alarm.

When I turned it off and back on it allowed be to get back to the marina in limp mode. The Voltage while driving in limp mode was showing close to 15V with the needle bouncing towards the red.

I then disconnected the batteries fully for a few hours and reconnected but now the engine will crank but will not start.

The EVC faults do not show on my clocks so I cannot see what the fault is so I was hoping there might be a way of resetting the EVC without having to get the Volvo dealer down with his diagnostics.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

The engine is a D4 Volvo Penta 260hp #2004004005

Thanks
Colm
