Hi,does anyone have a manual for this vhf set or know where I could possibly download one? I inherited one when I bought my boat and it appears to be working perfectly.I noticed that it may have a dual watch facility and would like to read about it. Many thanks, Peter.

It does have dual watch. Just press the DW button and the set will alternate between the selected channel and channel 16. It is important on this set to remember that it will not transmit when dual watch is selected. You must turn DW off to transmit.
Regards Hubert.

A short question to this, if I may. I Holland you're not allowed to buy VHF's with a dual watch. I think it's because they are afraid you don't know at which channel you're transmitting when you reply. So all VHS's you can buy in Holland (legally) have this feature disabled.

How does this Dual Watch work in daily practice?

The set is the same basically as the Midland 5600 ..... Nasa Stingray 5600 ..... etc. etc.

Just different case.

Press select a channel you need to "watch" ... and press DW - you will then see it flip between Ch. 16 and the selected ch. .... when it receives a signal on one of them - it will usually stay on that ch. till signal stops and return to DW ...

My Midland and Nasa versions - when you hit tx button on mic - would revert to 16 ..... so it's a good idea to switch of DW before hitting button ....

5600 series sets are late 80's - early 90's ..... if working - fine .... if not - don't bother - get a new one !

But they are basic sets that usually outlive most other stuff !! My Midland is still in 0ffice for ship work, the Raytheon version is still on my UK boat ... (RM will tell you that the machine has no connection whatso-ever with the 5600 ... well they would wouldn't they !!) .... I have no intention of replacing untill they physically fail ....

Re: Euromarine Searanger 5600 / Sealine II

Just to add that should anyone need the circuit for the Sealine II (which is of the same vintage as the 5600) I have a copy. Have also worked out the algorithm for adding extra (private?) channels.
