Thinking of an Etap 21i, any owners out there care to comment on

Outboard position, does the outboard sit out of the water at rest? i know they tend to drag in water under sail. I don't want to have to heave a heave the outboard over the transom every time I moor up. What size works best.

Swinging moorings, anybody keeping one on a swinging mooring? is the bow roller ok to take the weight or is it just for flying an asymetrical?

How are they wor sailing single handed, I want a reasonably quick boat but it cannot be so sensitive as to make it a pain suingle handed.

Any other comments gratfully received.

I don't understand this. If it sits out of the water at rest, it won't drive the boat when the engine is on! Or have I missed something?

I think that ST or PBO have a done a report in the last couple of years.

Have not sailed the 21i, but if she's like any other etap you won't be dissapointed.

This may also be if interest to you: <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.etapyachting.com/index.cfm?Part=EtapInfo&Page=News&Start=2>http://www.etapyachting.com/index.cfm?Part=EtapInfo&Page=News&Start=2</A>

They are lovely boats. The outboard will tilt and lock when not in use so will sit out of the water whilst sailing and moored up. 5-6 HP 4 stroke comes recommended from Etap.

I've owned an Etap 21i for 3 years. Great little boats. I use mine for mainly coastal cruising with friends or my young children. Upgrading to a cruising chute now. Fast and responsive, and takes a moderate to rough sea in her stride. I use a Mariner 4stroke 4 hp:the prop does drag a little when in the raised position when sailing. Also can be a pain to use the gear shift when coming alongside (arm and face reaching down towards transom and not looking where you're going etc).
I kept the boat on swinging mooring for the 1st season and fitted a bow roller to the bow sprit, no problem. For the new asym spinny I've added a folding padeye so I ca have both asym spinny attachment and keep bow roller in situ.
Summary:
Quality sturdy fast boats.

Delighted after my first season with an Etap 21i. Yes the O/B does sit out of the water at rest - if you choose the right one. I went for a Yamaha 8HP 2-stroke. I also fitted remote controls for the O/B which does make life a whole lot easier!

I believe I have a copy of the original test for the ETAP 21i. If you would like a copy of it PM me I will post it to you together with a owners Assc form.

If its a ETAP it will be good!
