Essex boatyards…is this too much to ask?

I tend to agree with you, jimdew. The instruction manual is a prime document under the CE certification process and, theoretically, I believe that, in strict legal terms, the boat should not be operated without the manual being on board. As a result, I think Essex should be obliged to provide a manual with the boat without it necessarily being mentioned in the sales particulars
When I bought my present boat (from a Dutch dealer), I didnt notice until after the sale that the manual was missing but the dealer obtained a copy from the manufacturer without being pushed by me and at no cost.
I think Essex need to have their arses kicked on this one

One third of the £500 cost is for the leather binder and another third is Fairline's mark up. So long as you get all the documents and information you need, what's wrong with a photocopy?

Hello Rob,
I had same problem with my previous Sealine and Current Sealine.
On the first one, I contacted sealine, (Purchased boat from Walrus Yacht Sales) and they duly bent over backwards and sent me a whole new document set, all within a week!!!!.

On my last purchase in May 2005, Sealine this time duly ensured every piece of paperwork and manual was in order and was duly handed to me on the handover, all in a nice document file.

I can honestly say that Sealine as a Company bend over backwards and rectify a query or complaint with effeciency.
All owners manuals in order...

I suggest, as Essex Boat Yards are a Fairline dealer, then they should be ensuring there customers are happy and content, thus ensuring you are happy with your purchase, and ensure you are supplied f.o.c with your owners pack.
No way would I be paying an extortionate sum of money for a new replacement owners pack.
After all, you have paid a lot of money for your boat.
I would certainly write to the top man at Fairline if your issue is not getting resolved. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
