One thing that doesn't seem to have been mentioned is that there is currently a public consultation that could result in a drastic slashing of BSS requirements that could come into effect on Jan 1st. Details Here. This could solve your position and could certainly enrage the magistrate against the EA's stance to hold the case before Xmas.

I also find it very interesting the the EA are not involved in this consultation!!!

Re: BSS consultation and EA

Thanks for giving our consultation and modernisation proposals a quick plug. Pepole following the link will see the response to the consultation. The 30 or so general requirements will be published in January and will be implemented in April 05.

The respondents to the consultation are listed in the document.
The organisations involved in drafting the proposals and the consultation and the requirements and the guidance are and will be as follows:-

Assoc. Waterway Cruising Clubs,
Assoc. Boat Safety Examiners,
Assoc Inland Nav Auths,
Brit Marine Fed,
Broads Authority,
BW,
EA,
Inland Waterway Assoc,
Inst Mar Eng Science & Tech
Int'l Inst Mar Surveyors,
Nat Assoc Boat Owners,
Royal Inst Naval Architects,
RYA,
The Boating Assoc,
Yacht Designers & Surveyors Assoc

I hope that helps clarify some points.

Notice no mention of Private Persons who took the trouble to respond.

Bunged in the bin no doubt.

Just get together with bureaucrats and carve up the scheme to make it unworkable....

Baa Humbug.

12 boat owners acknowledged!

It's only when you read the conclusions that you realise that you meant to contribute. In this case, with a brief read through, I'm fairly happy. It's just a shame that I won't be able to get a Thames Licence until mid year without adding another few hundred quid into my fuel delivery system for a few months use.

Re: BSS consultation and EA

Thanks Rob.

I thought that I was reading the consultation document itself and not the response. Great news that it's going ahead but shame that it is not until April.

On a separate point, thanks for sticking your head above the parapet. This has proven to be very useful to the reprobates here in the past and I hope that it won't be abused in your case.

Gordon
