Hi all. I need the help of a good marine engineer to sort out my prop shaft which is not properly aligned in the stern tube. Boat in Cardiff bay. Can anyone suggest someone suitable? Thanks
Thanks for the info. I will contact Cardiff Marine to see what they think. Bosun Higgs - there is no flexible coupling and the shaft has dropped down a bit in the stern tube. This might I guess be due to elderly engine mounts? I can see no easy way to correct this problem but have little experience so all advice most welcome.
"Dropped down a bit" - how much and over what time period?
As Bosun Higgs said - its a DIY job to change mountings. First of all try
lifting the engine with a lever and a couple of wooden blocks. If it moves
too easily then you've probably guessed correct. The hardest part of
changing them is probably getting the old ones out.
Doug Jekeeda II CBYC - just replaced my Mercedes OM 636 and fitted
a flexible coupling. Float test Wednesday!
