engine oil

It isn't specifically marine oil.
Shell Rimula rt4X was recommended on this forum. It is a bit old fashioned which is just the job.
If you go to the smith and allen link and look a the documents tab and then technical data you will see it is CF-4 compliant , among others.
I have 20litres in my engine bay waiting to go in - this weekend i hope.

Delivery and VAT are extra.
But still a worthwhile amount cheaper the Volvo Penta oil.

Used motor factor fleet oil in all my Mercruiser/ Volvo and Perkins engined boats, also generic fuel and oil filters.
Combined hours total (all logged) of at least 3000 hours.
Regular yearly lubricant/filter change.
No problems to date.

When I looked for engine oil I did find some cheaper but not a brand I recognised so decided the Shell Rimula oil was good quality and achieved the Volvo Penta spec that I wanted.

The alternative cheaper oil may have been okay but I decided not to risk it to save something like £15 (for 20 litres).
