Need to clean up badly corroded threads on the engine mounts before its too late. From memory I think they are M16 but what is the thread spacing? Is it 1 or 1.25 mm. I want to buy a die to recut the threads rather than try wire brushing

It could depend whether they are original Volvo-boxed ones, or Cushyfloats direct from the manufacturer. When we replaced the mounts on our 2000 vintage MD22 many years ago now the correctly rated Cushyfloats direct from Metalastik used a slightly difference diameter and/or pitch of thread compared to the Volvo-boxed ones and wouldn't go through the holes in the engine feet.

Don't ask, measure it. Simple as that.

The boat is a long way away and unlikely to be able to purchase a die locally hence my question . I know its M16 but the thread could be 1.0 or 1.25. Would like to know so I can take the die with me .

Correct, but some of the replacement mounts have coarse threads in, guess how I know? They are 45 shore hardness by the way

Hi Stu
Thanks for finding the low cost source.
I guess OP can confidently order m16 fine from Leicesterand not have to enjoy your fettling routine!

If the OP orders from Leicester could he post the updated price paid please as I will link this into the bendytoy owners forum.

If it’s just threads you need to clean up, use either a triangular file, or a “thread repair restoration file”. The latter item is 4 sided with different TPIs per side. Both work well.

Google will help.

what is the reference "Leicester"

Sorry from previous threads when Stu was sourcing them seems like years ago!

The cheapest source then (by some margin) and manufacturer of these parts was Robush based in Leicester.

0116 267 0300 was the telephone number in 2009!

"The 45 at the end means that it is 45 shore hardness. I found out that trelleborg make em for VP, they call them metalistik cushy floats, an outfit called Robush are the main peeps for them, £29 each plus vat and carriage, makes a hell of difference.
Just be aware that VP use metric fine thread and you have to tell the girl that otherwise you get metric course thread as std and have to make up new studs.
Stu"

"I gave them their part no. ie 17-1609-45 and asked for M16 metric Fine Threads"
