My 12 volt fridge in the cockpit trips out at the main consumer board after it has been on for about 1 minute. Any ideas ? help would be much appreciated.

By main consumer board...you mean a bank of circuit breakers for 12V stuff?

Has this just started?...if not, what size breaker is fitted?.

Just a few cables from Boulters Lock

Check all the cable connections to the fridge and make sure contacts are good. Basically the current draw must be running slightlty too high for the circuit breaker...could be loose connection.

Also check for any dampness around open wire ends which could be crerating short circuit tho would have thought that would have tripped straight away.

Is circuit breaker capacity adequate for the load?......think you'll find theres a fuse close to the fridge itself and if so its interesting that its the CB tripping rather than that fuse blowing.

I don't wish to be a prophet of doom but it sounds like the compressor has gone past it's use by date!!!!

thanks for the reply, have just purchased the boat, on survey it stayed on long enough to turn off and think it was ok. Fridge installed by sealine at the factory so presume everything should be correct re size of breaker etc.
