End of KHM Voluntary Patrol

The one time I really wanted them - engine breakdown by No 4 buoy in F6-7, they weren't there but, when they were, which was most of the time at weekends, I reckon they did a pretty good job of keeping errant WAFIs and DAFIs out from under the ferries and generally being helpful.
I generally observed them being officious and shouty with other boats.

If they're more than 50m from the shore then they're in the main channel so I pass them green to green.

This. You don't have to go miles out of your way to pass port to port.

I’ve generally resisted that as it might reinforce their misunderstanding about which side they should be on.

Whereas you going mid challenge reinforces their misunderstanding about where small boats should be positioned entering or leaving Portsmouth.

Maybe there should be a sign telling people to drive on the right like can be seen at ferry ports
There are on the Inner Swashway marker and Ballast Pile. OK, someone coming in past the fort doesn't see one, but people leaving have no excuse, though a goodly number don't seem to be able to read.
