The one time I really wanted them - engine breakdown by No 4 buoy in F6-7, they weren't there but, when they were, which was most of the time at weekends, I reckon they did a pretty good job of keeping errant WAFIs and DAFIs out from under the ferries and generally being helpful.

I think they have done a great job trying to maintain some sort of order in the small boat channel. Cant have been an easy task at times. Sorry that they will be no more.

Agree that they did a good job of keeping an eye on the small boat channel, nit an appropriate job for the MOD police who should concentrate on security, risk of a free for all.

Didn't I see a rib patroling marked 'Harbour Master' last weekend? The harbour patrol was in location in the entrance but a large rib was zooming about looking at boats in the main channel inside the harbour.

Sorry to say I think they were well meaning, over zealous, do gooders doing a non job. There you go, I have said it.

I would be surprised if their members pop up soon enough 'encouraging' boaters to follow Natural England's restrictions/wishes/edicts around the coast not that far away.
