To all Sailing Folk

Please excuse some of the posts hereabouts...much is due to the Dickmeister now being officially recognised as the biggest tosser of our time . there is of course no question about Ms Mcarthur...

We would of course apppreciate if you could keep Dickmeister hereabout....

Think I'd look miserable bashing about in one of those tubs for any length of time. The guy that came in after her looked pleased as punch tho!

Everyonce in a while he pops up on Mobochat, has a go at someone for posting a Friday afternoon funny, and how inappropriate it is on a boating forum, and then goes and posts a 'teachers pet' plea to Kim on Feedback forum.

Never responds to any posts, never justifies any arguments, just trots out the same old worn monologue.

Now recognised as public enemy No 1 on Mobochat

Ellen damned with faint praise

I am afriad i have previously thought Ellen a bit of a miserable cow. However, I am from yorkshire, and i to wd be much more miserble if I was this grim but came from ...Derbyshire.

Seriously, the "female" is a huge qualificatiion innit? Of the races shes hasn't won, she's come second. Nobdoy says M Schumacher is the greatest MALE racing car driver of all time. Bad show Ms Sylvie race director: the form shows that Ellen is already amongst the greatest sailors (male or female) at 26.

Oh, that it explains it then.

However, Deckmaster made a perfectly valid posting and I'm not sure that the tone of Learners response is appropriate. Rather, it was cryptic and a bit over the top IMHO. Perhaps we shouldn't start carrying battles from one thread to another....it'll end up like a pub brawl

Sorry Learner, but on this occasion I think we should shout "Foul"

Geoff - you're obviously a motor boat man (as I was) - you would probably get a bit miffed if someone from SB had a go about World Champ Steve Curtis - you know, a wimp, doesn't even steer, sits inside in the warm, only does 140 mph, it's only like driving on the M25 etc. OK so he does smile (a lot!), but lets be honest, miserable or not Ms McArthur is one brave lady, as is Steve Curtis, brave, that is, not a lady - oh! you know what I mean....

Re: is she realy or

A product of mass's of money !!.
I tend to think all of us are capable of excelling at most things if we are handed god knows how much money to do it.
The will to achieve becomes so much easier when one does not have to fret over the cost re equipment .
Yes one needs character and a certain amount of ability , but after that money is where it's at.
I do believe she has done well but as for jumping about getting silly !!!!!

Before the brain dead's all flock to have a pop at me as a nobody , boating for most comes very easy due to a silver spoon and not hard work and effort . I have had to earn my pleasure re boats and don't take it for granted .Thus don't have a smug attitude as some on here .
Given the same equipment and support there would be many more who could put the greatness back in to Briton

Cheers
Mick

I think you've forgotten the time 'before she was famous' when, I believe, she lived on a small boat and found it difficult to scrape together enough money to feed herself while she was 'learning her trade'

Re: is she realy or

I don't think we have a disagreement - she got her backers by working hard at setting and achieving her objective.

It would be nice to think that young people in "in huge wasted area's of this country" had the same dedication - whether its sailing, football or pop music.

You have to be special - not lucky - to attract the money.

... and I think most of us have had to work hard to take up and continue sailing.

I imagine your boat lists quite badly with that b****y great chip on your shoulder !!!.

90% Boat & Backup 10% Sailor ?

Well done Ellen !

It proves that a Brit can do it providing we can get enough money, sponsorship, and backup as the Frenchie’s get .

I just hope that sailing doesn’t become like Formula One cars. As one car team member put it ‘ the Formula One Software World championship.

The rest of the race was more like a 'Demolition Derby' though. Very lucky not to get any deaths.

Still can't decide if the boats are basically unseaworthy or pushing too hard with too much sail.

the stinkies love him cos he know about fuel and as they all spend tons on it he has god like status over on mobo

he is also very good at winding up raggies and we fall for it v often.
they are only jealous cos they have no heroes in the world of motorboating cos you could strap a monkey in and it could drive one. infact some of them do use them as crew. ;-)
