ITV 24 TV news gave her a couple of minutes of coverage at about 7:50 this morning. Mention was made of the onboard cameras they will be using to follow her progress.
Guess it might make the news later - weather looks good for some good pictures/video. Its brilliant sunshine here in the westcountry.
I fly to join a ship off Ascension Isle in a few days - in Capetown for Christmas so I guess she'll sail/will have sailed past me at some point. I sent her an e-mail saying I'd wave at the appropriate horizon - do you think she'll wave back?
tried the position button on her website but they don't know where she is, and the webcams aren't working either. unless of course she's going so fast the doppler shift is screwing up the transmissions.
They have put a comment in that the web cams etc will be up and running in the next couple of hours - as soon as they have started to download and process the data - then automatic update every 4 hours.
On ITV news a couple of days back when she got the green light, they promised daily updates on her progress. http://www.itv.com/news/index_1442787.html
Good news ,Ellen is two hrs somthing ahead of the record. This was squeezed in bbc sport on bbc 2 this evening between the football and snooker. Earley days yet some 72 days to go. When I was her age my parents thought a rugby match was considered by as suicidal.I can only stand back and admire the bravery. Having read her book, to think a tomatoe sandwich was a luxary .she strives to greater heights.
All power to her. One can't help admiring her bravery and determination. Doing that trip - with a crew - on a multi-hull is tough enough. Doing what she is doing - single-handed - is just something else.
Will be keeping fingers crossed for her safe and speedy return.
