I read your list, oldbilbo, and immediately thought:
- soldering stuff
- terminal block
- crimp connectors and tool
- Servisol

Having said that, I've very rarely had to solder on a boat, if I've got terminal block and crimps!

You can buy the small Iroda for that if you shop around. That's what I have for my on-board kit, though I have the big Iroda 120 for serious use during planned work.

Would you be able to get replacement tips for the no-name Maplins one?

I have an Ioda Solder Pro 70. It gets fairly well hammered and is still in perfect working order. Tips are easy enough to get hold of, and they do burn out so would definitely bear that in mind as Pete mentions. A gas Iron deals with heat shrink quite well too.
