Yes, it really does only draw 3A at 12V, and it froze some meat left in overnight.

We chartered a Dufour 36 in Turkey, for 2 weeks, 2001. Had one of these coolers rather than fridge, same as my boat. We bought blocks of ice from grocers (relatively cheap) and put them in the box. It had two speeds, and we ran at low speed when sailing, high when engine on. We had no problems with battery, always had freezing cold beer, and still had bacon brought out from UK (ok ok ok) at the end of fortnight.
Our unit on our own boat in UK doesn't seem too heavy on cosum., but we have conversations like this... "I am just going to open the fridge to get xxx, anyone else want something while I am there?" - that is, we try not to open it except in dire need ;-) I must measure the drain on the batteries, now you lot have frightened me!
