This one is easily solved.

Get a wok and take the handle off it and use some asbestos material, or other heat resistant stuff, to line the sink and sit the wok in it for a comfortable and stable fit. Don’t worry about the asbestos danger; it is all hype from the asbestos removal industry.

You now need to find a number of suitable stones of about 2-3 lb each. Enough to fill the wok.

Simply heat the stones in front of your log effect fire, the patio heater, stove or even balance them on your toaster, until they are very hot. Put in wok and ladle water liberally onto them until the head is suitable steamy. (It is a good idea to put a few drops of Eucalyptus oil for that real authentic massage parlour atmosphere). Close the door and sit down with your copy of MotorBoat and Yachting and enjoy a comfortable steam while SWHMO warms your pyjamas and prepares herself to sleep separately in the master bedroom.

I must say, CG1, I admire you doing all this in your 24 footer! I have a 22 foot boat and I struggle with just the three cabins and a walk in wardrobe to put all the equipment in, although I have just discovered there is a cellar in the cockpit.
 
You should be careful sleeping with electric blankets on. When you piss yourself you could be electrocuted.


Actually, maybe it's not so dangerous.........
 
Talking nonsense? I am writing this from my hot tub, which is made out of a pre-owned Avon liferaft.

A little ingenuity and you can have all the toys want.

We use a leccy blanket every weekend, sluverly. Also now got a 13a socket in cockpit with fan heater set on timer so by the time you get back from resaurant/pub and require a night cap you can have one in a nice warm cockpit whilst yer leccy blanket warms up for 1/2 hour. Ohh the joys of boating.

Oh, cos there was report somewhere from the MCA or someone about an aftermarket heater install in a petrol boat where the heater intake was drawing in the exhaust fumes from the engines, and everyone got carbon monoxide poisoning...
 
Shouldn't worry, the boat in question had a duff heater air intake position (too low down and too far aft in the cockpit - NOT a factory install), AND had a duff choke on one of the V6's (causing it to make loads of Co), AND was being used with the cover fully up AND had a transom gate. If any one of these conditions hadn't occurred the problem/poisoning probably wouldn't have.
 
make that a transom gate with a large gap at the bottom and the boat moving slower than a following breeze to complete the picture!

hindsight is a wonderfull thing but the one bit that I really have to question is whether the air intake really was badly positioned. In this particular case I am also not entirely convinced that the CO levels were actually added to much by the heater - ie there would have been a gradual build up throughout the boat eventually. It definitely concentrated them in the cabin area around the vents but they just weren't getting dispersed at all.
 
Thank Heavens for that. If I couldn't (on occasions) have the heating on whilst underway I might come under pressure to take up some other pastime /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
