before i start tracing the anchor electrics back can anyone help with a simple or expreienced explanation, on pulling our anchor back in the other day it seemed to trip out, we pulled it in by hand and on closer inspection it sounds like the selanoid is sticking, now its not inthe hatch so guess its hidden behind panels below somewhere. 1/ is it that 2/ what else should i check 3/ while im pulling it apart should i check, service anything else?

I am not sure how you come to the conclusion the solenoid is sticking, sounds more like a fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped to me.
First you need to work out what electric supply is going to winch. If there is just a heavey duty cable then you must trace that cable back until you find the solenoid. If there is also a smaller supply then maybe the solenoid is in the winch houseing. What make is the winch and do you have a manual which shows the electrical arrangement?
Then go to you winch switch (the main switch not the deck operating switch) and see if there is power there. If not you must trace supply back. If power there check if there is power where supply goes into winch.
It is just a matter of checking the power supply through and at the point there is no supply you find your problem.
If you have power going into winch then problem must be internal, which is where it may be anyway if you keel blowing fuses.
Once you have done all this report back ASAP!!

Hi

Sometimes when i have anchored deep and im retrieving the anchor mine trips out , this happens because the load is to much at that time and the electrical side heats up and trips out, ,(to fix i ) reset trip switch wait 2/3 mins for it to cool down and its all working nicely again.
This is what happens to mine yours may be different but have a try

Dave.
