I dont have one of these boats, and have not seen the article in YM but I imagine it is a spade rudder and the stock is not radiused correctly at the change of section.
As an ex motorcycle racer who would regularly abuse engines by tuning for up to 30% more RPM than designed for, I have seen many crankshafts and crankpins fail at section changes-even when correctly radiused.
