Precise is the word here, not accurate. Accuracy is unaffected by resolution, although better resolution may in theory lead to greater output accuracy (but not a guarantee)accurately to start off a forecast

OK. Rather pedantic. Perhaps I should just have said “how well” the initial conditions are represented. Because of its remit, ECMWF has the luxury of time to initialise its forecasts. National weather services have deadlines to meet. Knowledge of what is happening currently is necessary. The U.K. and US provide the global World Aviation Forecast Service with mutual back-up. A better forecast is no help if the aircraft has already taken off. It is not helpful if the man on Radio 4 tells you that the rain will arrive when it already has done.Precise is the word here, not accurate. Close, but we're going to Bonn!getting ready to sell up, and move to Darmstadt or some such, then....
Isn’t this what Windy.com has been doing for some while now?For interest: ECMWF has just made a significant change to its policy this month. It will permit licence holders (service providers who buy the data) to redistribute real-time ECMWF data for Personal Use. See the new guideline (number 8) for more information (and the image in this post).
This is a major change from the past few years where it has been restricted and forms part of the move to open data (over the coming years).
Any questions, let me know!
