This is probably a long shot but before I spend loads of money can I just run an eberspacher problem by you guys and girls in case its something that you've had before. I recently fitted a D2 Airtronic in my boat with a mini controller and remote thermostat.. all worked fine. Returned to the boat a few days later, fired up engines to charge batts and switched on Eber. Couldn't hear what eber was doing due to engines but about 10 mins later noticed that the Eber was just running in fan mode with no heat. When originally fitted and switched on to heat the fan started very slowly then winds up as the burner starts.. now it just runs the fan straight up to full speed exactly the same as if I start it in venitlation mode. I suspected the controller so put the original rheostat controller back on and it still does the same thing.. Anyone experienced this and know what causes it..? I know I'm probably going to have to get it diagnosed and reset but I just thought I'd ask around first..
And while I'm here does anyone know a good place to get it diagnosed in or near Poole in Dorset..?? Thanks Iain

Hi
I have Webasto and it was only 5 months old and it did the same - We had blown the fuse. Apparently in start up mode it can draw quite a bit of power so you need to watchout for other appliances being on at the same time drawing power.

Try KETO in Poole, they are Webasto agents, not sure about eber. Their site is down at present. 01202 690900

Im not certain but believe there is an overheat lock- out on this model. I had this once when the fan would run but heater not flash up. I think turning it off and waiting 10sec before turning it back on reset it.

a search on here will throw up lots of eber cold air problems.......before you spend a fortune getting it tested check ALL electrical connections, pump and glow plug.

You could try a local truck dealer they have test beds for diesel heaters, I use my local Scania dealer

The fuse seems o.k. and there is no air in the fuel line... It doesn't even look for fuel just goes straight full speed blower. Having read everything on t'internet I'm suspecting it maybe the flame/overheat sensor...apparently if it gets a reading from this that tells it its too hot ( which it can if the sensor has failed ) the fan will run for 15 mins before going in to fault shut down. I never tried running it for that long for fear that I may further cook something. Anyway I've downloaded alsorts of manuals and now have to measure the resistance of the sensor when I next go to the boat... watch this space... thanks for all the suggestions so far and any thoughts on my flame sensor theory greatfully accepted.. cheers Iain

Jerry.. thats excellent thanks.. I didn't find those docs... reading the troubleshooting one.. suggests I might be right about the sensor.. lets hope so as its a lot cheaper than the ECU... thanks again.. Iain

Hello Ifraser - did you get the problem sorted? If so, how? I have a similar problem on a D4 right now. The boat is in Sweden at present, and the engineer said the "brain" had gone "unstable". I've brought it back to UK and now I am trying to find someone to look at it. In case this doesn't automatically get a signature, I am John from Voltair (Nic 38).
