I have a bit of confusion on my eberspacher D2 connections to a 801 controller.
assembling the plug to the wires as per the booklet in the box leaves the wire connections thus

Heater................. controller

red..................................red
brown.............................yellow
brown/white....................brown/white
blue/white.......................grey/red
grey/red..........................grey
yellow..............................blue/white

assembling the wiring according to a A4 piece of paper included with the heater states

heater......................... controller

red................................red
yellow............................yellow
grey/red........................grey/red
brown/white..................brown/white
blue/white.....................blue/white
connect to external temp sensor if required( no colour given)......grey
brown...........................no connection required

I'm confused. Can anyone throw some light on it?

Cant find my diagram for an 801 but your booklet instructions seem strange.
The second set makes sense and I have wired 801s before and don't recall anything as strange as the first set of instructions.
I will search again for my instructions.

I have replaced my mini controller by a 801 and wired as follows:
1 Yellow
2 Red
3 Brown /White
4 Grey/Red
5 Grey
6 Blue/White

You are right in the Eberspächer circuit diagram they have mixed up connector 1 and 2. As this is a simple "dump" on-off switch it does not really matter.

Spoke to an engineer today and he told me that.
Eberspachers are made in Germany and the 801 controller is a non Eberspacher part and is made in UK.
Connections are as per the A4 sheet, However if you want the controller to control the temperature, then you need to connect the grey wire from the controller to the grey wire in the diagnostics plug in the loom at the heater end. This is easily done by connecting the brown wire at the controller end of the loom to the grey wire at the controller and then cutting the brown wire at the heater end (Do a continuity check to make sure you are cutting the right one) and then crimping a 2.8mm lucar connector on and connecting it to the grey wire in the diagnostics plug
