The New Inn at Shalfleet used to be very good, but some years since I have been there. Shalfleet is a few miles from Yarmouth towards Cowes, at the inland end of the southern arm of Newtown Creek.

Went there by boat, dingy and legs this summer, very busy but a good and very wide choice of food for a lunchtime.

I had a nice meal and excellent service in the Island Sailing Club in Cowes. Lovely views over the river entrance.

There is a new Indian restaurant in Yarmouth overlooking the harbour. I can't remember the name but the food was excellent

I've heard quite a few good things about The Boathouse at Steephill Cove (South side of island, nr Ventnor). Looks gorgeous, delicious food apparently, and great views. We've never been, tides weren't right, but desperate to go.

Stacey, the ad says it closes at the end of first wk Sept, so we may have missed the boat if you pardon the expression!

George Hotel, Yarmouth is good but bit pricey.

Having never actually been able to spend any money in there I wouldn't know!

Tea and cakes on the lawn - we don't do that sir, empty restaurant - the kitchen can't take any more bookings sir.

I wouldn't mind if it was a one off but it's happened so often I've given up on the place.

Highly recommend 'Dan's Kitchen' on the green at St. Helens

Had a meal there last week and really enjoyed it.
