Hi
This summer, if we get any, I intend to cruise the south coast, from Plymouth to the Solent.
I am new to the area and have heard that getting a vistors berth or buoy can be difficult. If so can you book ahead
Thanks
John

Hi Kalinda, welcome aboard.

Weymouth just pile in, they don't tend to stop rafting until the boats form a bridge across the river.
Poole. Need to book marina on quay, but should be able to tie up to Town Quay wall ok. (Loads of anchorages off Brownsea, but a long dinghy ride to town.
Christchurch. Restricted by depth.
Yarmouth. Just turn up but don't leave it too late in the day.
Lymington Town Quay. As Yarmouth but less space, or book one of the marinas.
Newtown Creek. Popular, few mooring buoys or anchor.
Bucklers Hard (my base) Beautiful, popular, book marina or piles, might get on piles without booking.
Medina (Cowes) should find somewhere on spec (except Cowes Week)
Soton / Portsmouth. Most marinas won't accept bookings unless you are in sight of the Dockmaster, but space is usually available.
Chichester. Visitors buoys and anchorages available on 1st come / 1st served, phone marinas.

Hope you have a good time, we're heading the other way, might see you.

Steve.

ps. Good post to put on SB.
