East Coast Christmas Quiz 2017

.................................One observation though - previous quizzes have had rather few entries (at least the ones set by us, Janet Harber and Lisa did) and it is very irritating having taken all that time and effort when only 3 or 4 people try it. If you were to extend the deadline so that people could work at it over the Christmas braek, you may get more entries.

TBH I had no idea how many entries to expect. I rather thought it was fairly easy but then I would think that wouldn't I. Also I was keen to get it off my desk fairly quickly in view of heaps of Other Stuff to do. But if I don't get many by the end of this week (they have started coming in), I'll take your advice and stretch it to New Year's Eve. Thanks.

Please don't equate lack of entries with lack of people enjoying the quiz. I will have a go and perhaps get an entry in but you won't need a calculator to add up my score.

Fingers (one hand) for me

err .....me two
and what more proof could you want about the area being just about the finest area in the UK for boating ....both challenging and rewarding bar none.
Believe Dr Johnson said "If you are tired of the East Coast.....you should go to the retirement home known as the Sloent" :)

I'm starting to worry that I've made this too difficult! Even if a pic is somewhere you don't immediately recognise, perhaps never been to, I have tried to ensure that the majority have visual clues which, with the aid of a chart and perhaps a pilot book :encouragement:, should lead you in the right direction. Even the final question, which at first sight might appear a stinker, has only a few possible answers to consider.
New Year's Resolution? Explore more of the East Coast?

I am having fun with it, and the detective work involved adds to the interest, not sure what my eventual score is likely to be though, but hopefully better than 50%

+1

You're right Larry. They are well known scrubbing posts.

I don't recognise the scrubbing posts, but some places on the East Coast are renowned for their scrubbers! ;)

Dear all,
I've had quite a worthwhile number of entries in for the quiz so I'd like to stick to my deadline of 0800 on Christmas Eve, please.
All the entries are really good shots at it but I don't think anyone has scored 100% yet. So go on, give it a go. I'll only name the winner, no league tables will be published!

aaagh - was planning to get stuck in on the few days off between Christmas and New Year - I thought the deadline had been extended! Never mind - if I get some time tomorrow I'll have a top=of-the-head bash at it...

Good quiz from my intial perusal!

OK, time's up folks for entering. But I have left the quiz up online and added the answers on a separate page, HERE, so you can have a go at it for another week or so if you didn't get time before today.
Many thanks to all who sent entries in. I will finish the maths later this morning and declare a winner (or a tie maybe!).

Crikey. Some toughies there. Still, I managed 21 which is better than I thought I’d get.
I still think anyone with bilge keels has an advantage, but then that kind of goes along with the whole East Coast ethos.
Happy Christmas everybody.
