Time keeping on the Wales Rally of GB that weekend.
The following weekend I have a training day on the Saturday and a Kart race to Steward on the Sunday.
I will just have to put up with Excel again.
I wish the event all the best and hope to get there next year.
We went to Excel this year for the first time, mainly as we had the need to talk to sailmakers.
I found it pretty soulless compared the the old days at Earls Court but, admitedly, hadn't been there since 1999.
We are off to Earls Court mainly to have a chat with the UK importers of the current range of Hans Christians so it will be interesting to compare.
Can't see how you can write of something new like that anyway.
My guess is Earls Court will be a partial success with maybe 50 - 70 K visitors. Excel I predict will be further hit by attendance drop to once again below 100k for paying visitors. (Hope I'm wrong) due to competition from Earls Court and the ecomonic climate.
This will force the two organisations to come together and sort things out long term. The London shows can't run at a loss and keep going.
My view would be to use Excel but in a warmer time of year when the dock could be used for its full extent and make a much larger show in Spring or September. Would need to think around long term of Southampton - given the size constraints there and the times of the other European shows.
