EA Annual Report for 2010-11

EA Report

The EA Thames Annual Report for 2010-11 is now available HERE

Page 3:-

''During a routine survey at Sandford Lock in July 2010 we found faults in the tail lock gates and carried out emergency repairs to re-open the lock in time for the May bank holiday. Completing this work in only three days was a real success.''

Um.....they surveyed in July and repaired in time for May?....either they have invented time travel or they took 10 months to prepare for the following May :D

Don't forget they had to do a:

Risk asessment
Impact Assessment
Consultation
Public Enquiry
Business Case
Benefits assessment
OGC Gateway review
Scheduled resources
Training programme

Before they ordered any parts

...ouch!!....sounds like possible room for cost reductions to enable allocation of funds elsewhere...

Just in case anyone is interested in facts rather than speculation, I asked for clarification of this apparent discrepancy.

In the quarterly report for Q1 the statement re Sandford says:
During a routine diver survey at Sandford Lock, we found faults in the tail lock gates and carried out emergency repairs to re-open the lock in time for the May bank holiday.

How the additional words "in July 2010' came to be added subsequently to the Annual report appears to be something of a mystery !
