I got it too. Pretty sure I've never even registered with ebay. I wasn't going to click the link, but your message made me curious. I see that at the bottom it even asks for a Bank ATM Pin number!!!! Now that is really taking the p*ss.

I got a different one - saying my account was suspended - the giveaway was that the whole message was clickable url. I forwarded it to eBay, and abuse@yahoo as it apperared to have at least travelled through their servers, even though it purported to have originated outside yahoo. Yahoo are good at shutting down bulkmailers and spammers if you pass details back to them.

I've had half a dozen of these. It's just another scam to get your credit card details. Ebay would never ask for this info via e-mail. Watch out for similar scams purporting to be from PayPal.

Don't EVER give your credit card number in an unencrypted e-mail or on a web page that doesn't use encryption. (Either https:// or a java encryption system such as that uses by some online shopping systems).

It\'s bogus, not sent by eBay

If you log on to eBay, you should see a banner or something similar warning about them. Do NOT respond to them!

E-Bay do warn about this

The disclaimers and info displayed on most E-Bay pages do warn that E-Bay NEVER asks this info.

One instance actually 'hi-jacked' E-Bays apparent domain name ..... so be careful !!

Problem is that often it is a route to nothing ...... the address / url often forwards to another undeclared url so getting lost in the system - only the originator knowing where it is.

\"Specialist\" because I hate the word \"expert\"

Only on my own boat, John. For 15 years I owned a company that specialized exclusively in marine sanitation equipment and accessories...in that time there isn't much I didn't learn about cleaning 'em, unclogging 'em and repairing 'em...and curing odors...and especially how to prevent most problems. I've become known for it in the US....was given the title "Head Mistress" by a writer for one of the boating magazines here in the US..and after I sold my company, I wrote a book on the subject, which just came out in May.

I've been helping folks solve their pesky plumbing problems on a number of US boating and sailing sites for years...One of your mates--Ian Wright--who's a longtime cyber-friend (we go back to the days of the CompuServe sailing forum) invited me to join this merry band of UK boat owners. I hope you don't mind if I occasionally chime in on other topics.

Thanks for all the replies. I deleted it immediately. So can't foreward it to Ebay.
I changed my user name on Ebay away from my email address about a month ago.
I have just updated my PC and have not yet loaded on the various protion programmes. So will be busy when I get back home. My junk email has quadrupled without mailwasher.

Down at Irvine today for the Scotish boat jumble. Among many other things bought an XM DSC VHF so will be posting the old one on the for sale forum when I get back home. I can't even remember what make it is as I bought it from a fellow formite and did not get round to fitted it.
