Having frictioned my way through two pairs of Timberland laces for work trainers, I have tried a length of Dyneema.

The problem is that the standard shoe lace knot does not hold bcs of the slipperiness of the dyneema.

What quick and easy knot does the forum suggest please ?

I don't know if this will be better with Dyneema but it is certainly a more secure shoelace knot which I always use and is easy to untie. Ian's Shoelace Site – Turquoise Turtle Shoelace Knot

I have found the most durable and usable laces come from good quality 550 cord or small polyester cord. That is what I always end up with in my work boots. Dyneema strikes me as a poor choice. In addition to slipperiness, this is an application where some stretch is a good thing. Shoes need some give.

Unless the trainers came with very poor laces (not unlikely!), if the laces are done in, so are the shoes (shock absorption isn't what it was) from a practical and suportive prospective.

Thanks chaps. I'd forgotten I ahve a couple of reels of paracord (which I think is the same as TW's "550".)

Experiment time with the cord and the new-to-me knots. :) The trainers themselves are in decent state, and still waterproof, after two+ years of almost daily use..

What a fun site that shoelace site is !

2yrs is v good for everyday work shoes, what brand & model pls? Be nice to get something that's going to last...
Sorry, couldn't avoid the weakest of puns.
Still like the deets pls

There's another thing that might be worth thinking about.

If you get in an accident and injured your foot or leg the paramedic/fireman/etc might find it a little tougher than regular to remove the shoe they usually cut it off, dyneema laces might make it tricky or at least trickier than regular!
