Neither - I find both mediocre though I know I'm in a minority on here. Hall and Woodhouse, preferably Blandford Flyer, for me - chilled, but not too cold. Or a cold Guiness if I'm feeling hungry. If I want to spoil myself then a Weihanstephaner or an Erdinger Weissbier if I can't get that - all used to wash down a Napproxen tablet to kill off the gout attack that will hit me the following day.

+1 For Erdinger Weissbier.
A very close second best is Paulaner Weissbier.

I used to live in Erdinger Strasse.

I find that Kasteel is the Belgian beer for grown-ups, or second kiddihood. The Lambic beers are also good for sophisticated palates, especially Lieffmann's various.

For German beer, I like all the Stortebecker beers, and their rye white beer is excellent (Roggen-Weiss).

SWMBO insists on a pre Christmas trip to Bruges, so I get to come back with a nice selection of Belgian beers. I actually prefer the dark beers, and brought back about 60 different ones in December, and am working my way through them. The next one to try is Vleteren Bruin (12%).

Sounds like you're on a good trip. Keep it up!
