HSB now made in Chiswick by Fullers. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif If it's in bottles, then any of the Wychwood offerings in teh supermarkets will do.
Now, given the quality of modern yeasts, I'd be taking my homebrew bucket and barrels, along with a few (dozen) kits. No problems about importing alcohol there! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I personally prefer(chrismas special) Palm or a bolleke Konig..

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but I'm partial to De Koninck since I live about 200 meters from the brewery.
A few years ago, we had an English friend staying over in Antwerp. He was amazed to hear me ordering "a bolleken" in the pubs (we did a few...). Being a bit of a mischievous type, he loved asking the ladies serving in the café "two boll*****s".

"Bring on a good, traditional English ale from a local brewer."

Just a quick question .....do they add the funny bits floating in english beer by hand and then add the stuff that makes it taste like olde washing up liquid before or after heating it up to that slightly tepid lukewarm temp so beloved by real men /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Forget the continetal nonsense, go for Arran Blonde. Arran's an island, so you need a boat to get there - it's obviously designed for seafarers. And it comes in 500ml bottles, none of the Euro-softy 250/330ml bottles.

Duvel in the fridge is fine - got 4 on permanent stand-by there.
The freezer OTOH will kill Duvel - Duvel sorbet is not recommended.

You could do worse - 3 or 4 years ago when in Ostend a yottie who shall remain nameless was advised that the bar had run out of chilled Duvel. The yottie did not object - he just added a handful of ice cubes to each glass. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Bought this for the other half X-Mas before last - some amazing stuff in there. No sorbet - it would be disgusting even in a snobby Barcelona resto.

PS: no need to pay £21.50 from Amazon - you can get the book for €15.95 on the Duvel website /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

In the middle of that really cold snap we had /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Well, you are short of space, so here is my theory.

Leffe Blond= 6.5% abv

Duvel = 8.5% abv

Clearly you get more rocket fuel per tonne out of the Duvel.

I rest my case, m'lud.
