Any Dutch forumites out there? I bought a classic Van de Stadt (built 1958) over in Holland last year and brought her back to England, Apparently she is the first of her type and differs slightly from later examples which numbered some 6 or 7 in total. The second one built was for an English man but all efforts to trace her over here have up to now failed. As I speak no Dutch I wondered if there was anyone over there who would post on any Dutch sites in the hope of contacting other owners. The boat details are as follows;

Class, Marsdiep.
Designer, E G Van de Stadt.
Built 1958 and called 'AVANTI'. Long keeled, Later vessels had a Centreboard.
LOA 32' (All later ones 34').
BM 9'6"
7/8ths sloop rig when first built. (Converted to masthead in 1964)

See picture in side header

Thanks in advance, Mike.

Will see what I can do for you, though there aren't that many forums in Holland. Ricus vd. Stadt was Holland's best-known designer. I should have a magazine feature, listing all hisdesigns, somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Mike, the picture is very small and difficult to recognise.
As Coby sais, there are not many Dotch forums available. I shall try and search som Dutch internet pages to see is we can come up with any information.

cheers

Peter

Thanks Coby. It will be nice to talk to other owners about what is in my opinion one of the prettiest boats I've ever seen. (I admit to being a tad biased).
Cheers, Mike.
