Don't know where they've gone, but it's a very seriously ugly bit of kit IMHO. Perhaps too many others thought so too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Chris,
Perhaps, and a bit off thread, but the aside from the awful looks, we don't like the 'eggs in one basket' situation. Assuming you're going long-term cruising, you can't use the two power sources simultaneously as we prefer. I don't know, but I suspect, that if one element - say the turbine - goes down, you can't then use the windgen element. And vice versa? Perhaps I'm wrong.
We decided that we'd like all three (excluding the engine) sources to be as independant as possible, so have solar panels, windgen (Rutland 913) and towed turbine (Aqua4gen) so that if one or them breaks down, the other two are unaffected.
As always though, everyone to their own and, if you are off cruising, have a great time! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I've tested the slow-down in fairly light winds doing 5kt on a close reach. I launched the Duogen five times while someone else watched the log on each occasion. No visible effect (i.e. any effect less than 0.1 kt). The boat is a Rustler 36 (long-keeler of about 7.5 T displacement).
seems to reduce speed by 0.5kn perhaps a little more in some conditions. lots of power and easy to handle.we crossed milford haven-horta last summerand only needed to boostwith engine once[4hrs].we did it in 8.5 days[1270km] and ran full electrics and fridge with radar on for a fair amount of the time.i think that speaks for itself.pm me if you need more info
