Dunked Honda 2.3hp outboard. Next steps?

The prime purpose of my post #7 was a gentle reminder not to forget the recoil spring.
I suggested WD40 as a good starting point, it's a water repellant and a light oil.
I've also used WD40 annually on a Suzuki DF 2.5, bought in 2008, and despite the head being dunked several times, the engine and recoil spring remained in good condition, and was in full working order when I sold the outboard last year.
I know WD40 isn't the best at a lot of things it is used for, there are much better specialist sprays for this and that. But it's readily available, most boats will have can on board, and often good enough, is all that's required.

I removed the pull cord assembly and the manual just said "be careful not the let the coil out". Didn't show any instructions on what to be careful about, so of course the spring popped out immediately. Looked in good condition though, doused in Corrosion-X, rewound it and packed it back together. Where did you get an electric starter for this motor?

I think you misunderstood Ian Edwards' earlier post.

No electric start, although I often wished one was available. My partner is a very small lady, less than 7stone, and about 5ft 3". She couldn't manage to start the Suzuki 2.5. That one reason why I bought an electric outboard last year.
