My McMurdo DSC VHF set makes a continuous clicking when switching between channels on dual watch. It's no hassle if motoring or up in the cockpit, but a bit annoying if relaxing down below during a peaceful sail.

McMurdo have not replied to an enquiry via their website.

Anyone else have one of these and have the same problem?

Yes both my Sailor DSC fixed set and the Raytheon hand held click when switching channels on dual watch but not to any intrusive degree. The background noise is bound to be different on two different channels so there is going to be an audible changeover. Also the squelch will switch in and out as channels are changed. I don't suppose that they build leisure market VHFs to give BBC like broadcast quality quiet changeover.

Presume you've tried backing off the squelch a little. On the other hand it could be what's known in the trade as a "design feature". Not a fault but just how it is.

Both my ICOMs (fixed and handhelds) are quiet on the changover for both dual and tri-watch - although if traffic comes up on ch16 then it gives you a brief beep so you know without looking at the set that it's ch16 traffic you are hearing. But if it's traffic on the other listening channel(s) then you just hear it directly - there is no other annoying flicker.
