I am seeking a drying wall somewhere on the south coast to avoid a summer lift out to do hull maintanence work etc, does anyone know a good place for this? It’s a 34ft LOA with a long keel draught 1.5m

Bosham might suit. It has a concrete base and stone walls with timber baulks as "fenders". Newport under the flyover might be an alternative, but the bottom's a bit muddy. I wouldn't consider either for a long stay, but for a few days either could do. For facilities, it's Newport, but Bosham's so much prettier, so I know where I'd go. Neither has a chandlery nearby

Or Cowes town wall, don't know the cost there is also piles at the Folly. Oh and lymington but that's lymington prices.

I’ve not dried on the South Coast but there is a good hard in St Helier which is free but needs to be booked through the office.

There are loads of places you can dry for a tide, do I read the OP as 'extended' maintenance work?

Thanks folks, when you say “piles” sorry never done this before if you tie up front and aft to piles a long keeler will tilt a lot or am I missing something? Does one not need a wall?

Where exactly in Bosham please ? Would you have a what3words reference at all ?

Bosham is at the top of Chichester Harbour. Very pretty and good pub.

Drying against piles is essentially no different from a wall. They are usually spaced such that you can heel the boat against them safely, often using a fender board. They are designed with a firm base or grid specifically for drying out.
