Another solution would be to tap one or both of the holes in the nut, and use hex-headed grub screw(s) to lock the nut onto the shaft.
Our Featherstream came with Camlock washers as alternative to drilling.

In reverse that set up has the ability to wind itself off the shaft ??
The shaft nut is tightened to quite a high torque so I doubt it and the effort to undo the nut is higher than with standard shake proof or split washers. Darglow are supplying them as standard with Featherstream props and, at the cost of those, they wouldn't want claims when they fell off. I had never seen them before and must admit to being a bit wary at first but, after 2 years there's no sign of slackening.
Hmmm.... Ok but experience and the views of others on here say it needs some form of locking to prevent it finding the bottom of the sea ?? Tom
