I burnt out my Dremel surprisingly easily and replaced it with an einhell one, which hasn't burnt out despite burning out the chuck a couple of times.

Parkside do a grinder with a flexi-Dremel style power take off which looks useful.

If you can borrow another machine, cutting a slit in the collet with a fine blade may solve the problem.

I have plenty of tapered collets ... problem is Silverline use a strange outside diameter of collet. I can mix collets with my other 3 machines - but not with the Silverline.

I even have many different tapered collets to hold props on model aircraft motors .... none of those fit either.

I had 2 mains Dremels at £50 each, both failed at the field windings where the fine wire disappears through the inner case. I keep repairing it but bought a £16 cordless Parkside from Lidl, which has been fine. Looks and feels the same quality as a Dremel but more reliable. Charges in about 15 minutes. Definitely worth looking out for.
