I have just had it confirmed that Dover Yacht co. is coming to Ramsgate leases all signed etc. That should liven up the local trade. Apparently no love lost there between Davis Marine & Dover already reports of people trying to block Dover from lifting boats from the quay.I.E. davis marine engineer standing on one of Dovers customers boats refusing to move unless he (Whom shall remain nameless)attended the lift. I am glad it wasn`t my boat arn`t you? Very possessive these marine boys.Apparently a lot of tit for tat going on. Is this good for competition certainly does the marine trades reputation a power of good. My boat comes out Saturday .Have changed venue to Dover just in case>Watch this Space.Could this be civil war 2003 style.

<font color=blue>I can, in a way, understand Ramsgate's attitude. Davis Marine and the other lot fought long and hard to get the new facility, helped set it up, trained to use it etc. etc. Then 'johnny come lately' pops along to enjoy the fruits of their labour. It was agreed that only those two firms could 'do' the lift but anyone can work on the boats afterwards.

Apparently after Peter of Dover Y.C. threatened court action after Capt. Gray questioned their credentials the harbour has in fact backed down & Dover can also lift there now. I don`t think any forumite would be too pleased if an engineer from another company stood on there boat refusing to get off. I would go BALLISTIC.

<font color=blue>I will lay a penny to a pound of Poo the dude that did it was Clive. Shortish stumpy dude mid 30s with glasses.
Dover I suspect can have boats lifted but are just not allowed to use the Drott and have to get one of the others to operate it for them... or someone from the Harbour i.e. Steve etc.
Clive does do silly things, last year he had four french birds chucked out of the Marquee because they weren't Yotties. he almost got lynched.
