Which shouldn't be that long.

Oh the delights of the M6 M5 A30, just think, traffic jams on the Thelwell viaduct, Roadworks through Knutsford, Roadworks for the new B'ham relief road at J13-12, traffic jams at the M6/M54, the long slog from J11 down to the M5, the view of Bescot marshalling yard as you join the M5, the magical sort of boredom that only the M5 can offer, the relief from boredom that the traffic jams at Bristol bring, the realisation that you have just been filtered off onto the M40 because you were half asleep, turning roung and rejoining the M5, counting down the junctions to the A30 so you don't fall asleep, the horror when the sign says it's still 65 mile to go to Exeter, at least now you are on the A30 and have the flash of the speed cameras to keep you awake...... Did I miss anything out ?

All that beautiful scenery you would miss out on.

M5 A38 a great road and can average eerr. Well alot! Only takes just over 4 hours for the 310 miles if all goes well. But after that at least I can come and go from just about every where when it pleases. Have not bothered to look at a tide table for ages and can spend all week discovering places without going more than 40miles from base.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Most moorings in the river are private, and one belongs to Grey seal so be warned. the two yellow ones were so close to the lifeboat moorings there that you swing onto one of the boats moored there. also worth bearing in mind that nearly all the moorings there are in very shallow water and on spring tides if you draw more than 1.5 mtr you will go aground, these mooring are realy only any use if you are early for the lock gate.
Paget's Lady is berth in the Clyde marina in Ardrossan at the moment and I have 24 hr access and the sailing there is wonderful as are the pubs which in several cases have many free moorings, one is ths Kames hotel in Kames on the west Kyle of Bute, great pub good beer and food and the locals are very friendly. another great thing about Clyde Marina is I can drive there from Lancaster in under three hours, with very little risk of traffic problems, well on my way up to the Kames hotel in 4hours.
