Double Post ---The much praised Aldi Cassoulet

An easy one pot wonder I always have the ingredients for:

Boil 2 or 3 hand full of pasta (any shape) until 'al dente'. Tip in a tin of drained tuna and a tin of tomatoes (chopped up) or if feeling really flash a small jar of 'ragu' type sauce. Eat (often from the pan).

I can do posh, just often don't bother when solo!

Most canned meats I have seen are too much for one and with no refrigeration (other than putting in the keel) I am not keen trying to keep opened food too long.

Oh I do hate joining in with one of Rogers Aldi threads ;)
However, instead of going for the flash Ragu type sauce, try a carton of Aldi Passata (sp) works perfectly on a pizza too but not if oven use is an issue
Add a tin of chopped tom's too, but mushrooms add that little bit of extra texture and bulk too

Washed down with a beer, full of vitamins and goodness

Nigel Rowe in his book 'The Big Blue Marble' [I think it is called] said every main meal should include an onion and garlic. I must admit every evening meal I cook starts with browning an onion and ends with some garlic.

Karouise, in terms of keeping stews when single handing at sea I always make a 2 day stew which I store in the oven during a non preparing day or in the pan clamps on top if it is very rough. So far I have never got food poisoning. The beauty about cooking at sea is that there are very few bugs out there and once you get rid of any that you bring with you I believe you are in the clear.

This. May even be worth the petrol and drive but the Stanground Peterborough store had all of this reduced to 0.99p for the lentil and cassoulet. Now have around 20 tins ready for gradual replenishment. A good level of stock on Weds last week. Once it's gone it's gone!
