Dos aney one no whiy , Dale Yacht Club - website is not working ?

Following Watermint's thread I looked at Dale website for first time last week and "found" the AIS page. I've tried the site a couple of times since and all I get on the AIS page now is the map. Is this the same for others or have I accidentally clicked on something I should not have done?

I'm interested, as being based down there, I recognise most of the boat names and this gives some background into what they are upto etc.

It appears that the people who put AIS from the haven on the internet are not online. If you zoom out you will see it's working.

I think that the way the webmaster for the Dale web site has implemented it, has not set it to always go to a set GPS location. What can then happen is that the MarineTraffic site either gets confused or remembers a previous location that you may have viewed when looking at a location on MarineTraffic. E.g. when I look at the Dale AIS page, I see a portion of deep water to the West of the Canaries.

For example, the Cardiff Yacht Club AIS page at http://www.cardiffyachtclub.org/aismap.html is always set to initially show an area of the Bristol Channel from about Avonmouth to Tenby. The user can then zoom in or out, scroll about, etc..

Spidercrab - I understand your point, not sure it's relevant here though

Watermint - no AIS on my boat, maybe in the future as it certainly looks a useful tool. Have seen your boat at Dale a couple of times this season, will make a point of saying hello if we see you in 2013 (boat on the cradle for the winter now)

I was answering your question "Is this the same for others or have I accidentally clicked on something I should not have done?"

To put it more simply, that page may be different for others and no, you haven't accidentally clicked on something you should not have done (with relation to this MarineTraffic issue).

If you go to http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/ it will usually show you where you looked at the last time you used it. That is what I think is happening with the Dale AIS page.
