Doing the Walton Waltz

It used to be a habit of mine to anchor close in to the low tide mark at Stone Point and Hamford, as the tide always followed the channel I was always going to be parallel to the channel wasn't I? Until the wind got up enough to prevent us doing the 180 at tide change causing the stern to catch the bank and enabling me to check how well she sits at 20 degrees nose down:o. Fortunately it was the overnight tide, and no obvious witnesses/photo evidence:p
Needless to say I stay further out now:D

I find the holding there not good, and had several attempts getting holding two years ago. I also find room a bit tight if the wind is SW or W, and would think that 30m chain would require putting the hook right on the SW side of the channel. I have ended up being able to touch the transom from the beach, but still have the boat basically afloat!

Might be interesting this weekend too!
