Does your lazarette leak?

I think most people will answer--- NO---- because they don't have one.
Nor do I, but in a spirit of helpfulness I would ask if you are sure that the leak is from the lid or is the water coming from elsewhere?
To be sure, get locked in the lazarette for a couple of hours either in a thunderstorm, or with some one using a pressure washer outside. That should let you see the source of your problem!!

Well mine does, the water comes in from the (piano!) hinges that hold the lid to the combing. Short of reworking the whole thing we are stuck with it. Although our solution, whilst not moving, is a cockpit tent which keep the rain off the hinges.

LMFAO!!!! Hilarious! You've brightened up my day as this damp issue in the lazarette is really getting me down, mainly because I'm looking for an SSB grounding solution. A damp lazarette isn't helping.

hello we had leaks on a dehler 38 the gutter use to flood then into the locker and into the stern berths, wet feet..
i tried various rubber sticky back foam but did not work.
finally i sprayed expanded foam onto the seat base put cling film over the foam and shut the seat lid.
when set hard the lid opened easily,
no more leaks!!
not the most elegant but you dont see it and it worked.

@ Bosunof: definitely a leak. Comes in from new pushpit installation (solar panel wire). However there always was condensation build-up.

@ beebok: that sounds like a great solution in principle. However the lip around the lid has drainage holes. If I went for your solution I'd end up blocking those drainage holes.

I have a similar problem on my WesterlyTiger; the rainwater does seep through the piano hinges in spite of runaway slots each side of the stern locker. Was thinking of removing the hinge and clamping/sealing a strip of neoprene across the whole hinge and refitting. this with newer foam gasket around the cover edging may fix the problem. Maybe other solutions to this have already been suggested on this forum?
