Does anyone know what this is?!

......yes I know, it's a seacock.

However, I don't know the make or model and would like to, as i'm a bit concerned that it might be missing some parts.

It currently consists of the bung/tap arrangement and a single collar held in place by two screws that can be undone a bit too easily for my liking.

Is this right, or is it missing something vital?

If its got 3 bolt holes its probably a Simpson Lawrence model. If its got 4 then I'd say its a Blakes. It looks almost identical to the SL one on my boat used as a bog outlet.
No doubt someone will be along to say otherwise.......

If the body is Blakes (which it looks like, but they all look similar) then the holes that the bolts go into will be threaded. Below that there should be an additional nut (one each side) which locks the bolt in place. If yours "undo a bit too easily" then presumably those nuts are missing?

There's a good diagram of a Blakes seacock here. Yours looks like a similar type. As prv says there are nuts underneath. Easier to service than normal ballvalves - a polish and grease of the cone once a year. Just tighten the top plate down until it is neither stiff nor loose to turn the handle.

I serviced the head seacocks our first winter with KS. I didn't get round to it the second winter, but thought "it'll be ok, they were well greased last year, surely they can't seize up that quickly". Nope, needed a hammer to turn them, and a bigger hammer to knock the cones out at the end of that season.

Definitely an annual job.

I think you're right Barry. It's also an outlet for a Simpson Lawrence loo and the rest of the boat is pretty original so i've no reason to think it might be otherwise.

Thanks for all the info and tips as usual guys, I think I might well find some nuts for the back of the screws for the holding plate though, just to be on the safe side!
