some organisation I read about in a magazine once. It held a list of classic boats/projects needing caretakers. The idea was that if you had no money but lots of time you could take one of the boats, and it was yours as long as you maintained it, however you were never allowed to sell it, if you had enough you had to give it back to the organisation.

A friend of a friend has inherited an old family boat but doesn't sail and could not keep up the maintainance anyway, I thought this might be a solution
