Any recommendations for manufacturers of cloth type spray dodgers who can do name etc. Been quoted £260 for a centaur which seems rather steep !

Try Trafalgar...

Trafalgar Yacht Services, the Westerly spares people, list dodgers at £17.90 a foot per pair, plus lettering. Sounds a bit less than £260.

you can get tyhe material from most marine suppliers ... edge and eyelets is a DIY job.

Letters can be got from any Sailmaker connected chandler such as Seateach etc.

Just as example ... opposite TV South building - the Marina had a Marine Materials supplier outside the main gate ... buy of the roll - they would even seam the egdes for you if asked nicely ! Eyelet kits are available in any good camping or chandlers shop.
My letters were supplied by Seateach and were self-adhesive. I had a seamstress run a machine round the letters as security. 8 years later ... only the stitching has failed - as would any in fact. I have unpicked all stitching and letters are so well adhered to the material that it is not necessary to re-stitch.

Think it was about £10 - 15 for material, about another £10 for letters and help in house repairs to Seamstress ... but I would assume that after 8 years ... prices will be a little more !

I have a pair of red dodgers, used one season. They have had lettering on but only stitched. Yours for £50 plus postage. Then you can get the lettering done locally.

Do you really need dodgers? I find that sailing without them makes keeping a lookout simpler when heeled and avoids an expense (not to mention repairs when one scoops up some sea and the dodger rips). I get no more goffers without them than I did with them. Names can be done with a nice paint or transfer job on the bow or the side of the coach-roof.
