I use Twitter to follow news sites and for football, racing and other sports news. I find it quite good. If anyone has any boater accounts on Twitter to recommend I'd love to hear from them. I have never and will never use FB especially because of the amount of private and semi-private things my wife seems to be able to find out about family, friends, neighbours and people I didn't previously even know I knew.

Not having much in the way of skeletons in my cupboard, I have few qualms about FB, but it doesn't play a big part in my life. I get to see a bit of what my family get up to, not all of which is welcome, but I originally joined because my class association has a couple of private pages which are entertaining and useful. I keep my friends list down to about a dozen and don't follow most of them because I'm not really interested in what they had for dinner last night. I don't Tweet, if for no other reason that I'm not that interested in what the big T has to say.

Facebook has great up to date coverage of the Volvo, and provides much much more also, including the yachting pages and sales/wants. I advertised on there for a spray hood for my boat. Someone on there has just very kindly given me one for free...I couldn't do without Facebook.

The Rival Owners Association have a FB page which is more active than their main website these days, the two are quite complimentary, serving slightly different purposes. Why is this on the ECF, wouldn't Scuttlebutt be better?

I read two FB group pages, the Classic and Vintage Racing Dinghy Association Page (because I have a 1939 Uffa Fox International Fourteen) and the Ohlson 38 Page (because I have one).

I notice that both groups have their own web pages, but these are getting less use than the FB pages.

I suspect that this is because FB is just easier to use.
