I know that this is not in the spirit of this thread but I thought this may be of mild interest.

We are seriously thinking of purchasing a new Sunseeker 28Metre which would be used by family and never chartered.

But when you do the figures and include all purchasing and running costs over say a 10 year period ,you could actually save a huge sum of money by not buying a boat and chartering different vessels for say 4 months of the year in the Med. and Caribbean.

Absolutely but not the same as owning your own imo. No more just popping down to the boat for the weekends and just chilling. Just wouldn't be the same.

Tempting that you have no risc, frustrating that you have no boat.
