Do I understand correctly..

According to the (Greek/Aussie)owner of the Taverna where we ate last night,it seems that the new mayor of Kalimnos is anxious to attract visiting yachts, and has asked /told the port police to make checking in etc. as easy and pleasant as possible. That was certainly our experience yesterday,as well as others we spoke to.
Also the port police are refusing to implement the cruising tax, even though it has been passed through parliament.
All the tavernas are very unhappy about the tax and have made their feeling known to the Government.

James, this is the reply to my email requesting an update from the MoS and copy of draft instructions to be issued - from the person who is overviewing the implementation

We have no further information concerning the implementation of the TPP.
As soon as we learn anything, we will let you know

Not surprising no-one knows anything - I think that they may not even had responses from the MoF yet! So don't hold your breath!

The new tax has not yet been implemented by Athens so hardly surprising that it's not yet in place at a local level. Meant to be happening some time this month but then again it was meant to be coming in sometime in April as well......
And in Jan but hey there still seven months left in this year yet .

To be fair the Greek MoF does have a lot on it's plate at the moment, the TPP is probably way down the list. I tend to agree with Chris, if they haven't got it up and running by the end of June (and they're aiming for the end of May at the moment) I think they'll probably abandon it for this year and start cleanly in 2015.

Is Kalymnos now a port of entry or did you pop into Kos ?
We checked into Kos last week, Customs didn't want to see us, only the port police, We were anchored in the bay outside the castle which the port police charged us for,,,,,6 euro for two nights,,he said
it doesn't matter where you anchor in Greece a fee should be paid, but he said people don't pay because people don't come to us to pay it.
it was 15 euro to check into Greece 15 mins and all done,,,

We visited Lakki PP this morning (and met Artic Warrior on the way back). Our PP not quite as friendly as the one our friends saw yesterday but all done in 15 minutes or so, no charge. We now have a Sailing Permit in addition to DEKPA, no idea why.

Did you go and pay your 88 cents or did you take an IOU ?
Steve

You're meant to pay to anchor in Greece? I'd never heard about this before.

Hi Vyv,

We were given a Sailing Permission form in Leros last May, The PP in Crete looked at with some puzzlement.

There was some fuss at Porto Heli a couple of years ago when the PP charged people to anchor in the bay, apparently within their rights. The PP there do have something of a reputation for going a step further than others.

Does anyone know if this is legit? Or are some PP overstepping their bounds? If it is legit, what is the charging structure?

And we thought the UK was bad for charging to anchor in some areas! (Yes, yes, I know, there's no comparison between the UK and Greece...)

I have been told that the PP can ask for harbour dues if one anchors within the harbour limit.
For instance in Porto Cheli the whole bay is “Harbour”
This is where the problem begins, even the Eagle ray pilot does not give precise harbour limits.

One other point, apparently salvage can not be claimed if the “Salvage “ was within the harbour limits. A big salvage claim after a supposed storm and mooring failure was dropped after a Greek lawyer was consulted. Mooring field within the harbour limits. The fact that the owner of the yacht wanted a bill and tax receipt must have helped also.
Can give no details on the “salvage” don’t want to become the towns enemy.
( We never ever take or rent a mooring, I use my own anchors. )

Last year we got a launch permission and a sailing permission from Lakki PP. This year Ionian Marine told me no documents were neded on launch.

I know who I'd trust to be up to date.
