That we no longer have to check into Greece at a port of entry, anywhere which has a port police office will be ok?

Thanks Tony.. We did indeed see it on the CA and as we are about to leave Turkey and head over to Kalymnos, assumed that we could now go straight there without checking in at Kos.
The thing is though...
We know it will be OK. You know it will be OK... But will the Greeks ? I shall keep you posted.

On the long thread about the new boat tax Glyka kindly posted this link (http://automaton.gr/Files/Law2014.pdf). It's the notification that has been sent to the Greek port police to advise them of the new law. The red highlights are Glyka's to indicate the most commonly needed changes. The CA is recommending that if you run into problems with the PP you smile broadly, show the PP this document and ask when these changes will come in....

In my (recent) experience of Kalymnos PP, different shifts have different interpretations of the laws so good luck blazing the trail.
Speaking of blazing trails did you know that Pothia/Kalymnso has an annual Dynamite throwing competition on Easter Sunday :nonchalance:
My ears are still ringing !
Keen to hear how you get on.

Steve - what are you doing about crew lists. I always kept an up to date list in the log book of crew at any time. My understanding is that now we don't need to keep them on the official crew list form and get it stamped any more, and that a list in the log book iw OK.

I will infact write to my contact in the MoS and see what she has to say on the subject.

I dont know Chris
Leros PP asked for a new one when I went in 3 weeks ago but they (and I) were happy with a hand written one that I just did on the spot so I guess one written in the logbook should also be OK

I have always kept a dozen or so crew list "Pro formas" on board with my and my wife's details permanently printed and then blank lines below for visitors. I fill one in completely before attending the PP. It seems to have impressed now for many years and never fails to meet with their approval.

Crew lists . . .

If you're entering from a non-Schengen country, you have to present a crew list. There's a pro-forma supplied - but a list made up on the spot will do. Include passport or ID numbers.

Subsequently, if people join or leave the boat, you should keep the crew list up to date, but there is no requirement to report these crew changes to immigration, PP or any other authorities. I'm advised this is for immigration control purposes.

So, what reason does that absurdly regulated nation give for this rediculous procedure? I fully accept their authority for imposing it but I still want to ask "WHY"?

Greece is like London, just another "Theme Park" but not yet, quite so overpriced!

Each PP station is different and to an extent, each shift is different. Ag Nik PP insisted on my filling out a new crew list when I arrived last October and endorsed the list when I booked out last week. They happily inspected my old insurance, checked only the dates not the limits and wanted to see my marina receipts to prove I'd paid for my stay.
I await with interest to see what happens when next summoned to the PP office in wherever to see which bits of paper they want to see and what they decide needs stamping. It's all part of the charm of the place!

Exactly. On Nisyros there is one PP who interprets the rules in his own way. We have had the same crew list for some time, hand written and stamped several times by different ports. This PP insisted that our list was no good and gave us a form to fill in instead. It is clearly something to do with cruise ship passenger landings and does not even have a column for passport numbers. The same man insisted that DEKPA needed to be stamped on every visit. He knew full well that it was only necessary every 30 days but told us that he didn't agree with the instruction!

+1

I made up an Excel spreadsheet of the blank Greek crew list and I fill that out as appropriate. I've uploaded a copy to my public Dropbox site if anybody wants a copy. It's at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25934908/Blank%20Greek%20Crew%20List.xls

The crew list required on entry from non-Schengen countries is a Schengen zone requirement. Netherlands and Belgium occasionally enforce the requirement on yachts entering from UK. France doesn't bother. The Dodecanese is particularly sensitive due to large numbers of middle eastern refugees trying to hitch lifts from Turkey.

Anyway... Back to my original query.
We launched yesterday (pi::ing rain)checked out in Bodrum, anchored for the night in Gumbet bay (quiet at this time of year ),and arrived in Kalimnos this afternoon. Following a spinakopita and a beer, we headed for the PP with all the papers etc. less than 5 minutes later we were done&dusted. Didn't even have to open my wallet. I will now lie down in a darkened room .
Re the new tax,the PP says that they are refusing to implement it.

Is Kalymnos now a port of entry or did you pop into Kos ?
